Self has come a long way in recent decades. Used to be that “women’s issues” are not even thought much less specialized universities, counseling centers and books worldwide. In just a few decades, self-help for women has grown into an important industry and a worldwide movement. Entire countries used to promote traditional cultures where women are expected to be submissive to their husbands are leading to new values and be part of a globalization of issues equality.
Women ‘s were traditionally overlooked the past largely due to the fact that jobs are simply in the hands of men and of the economy and industry publications and counseling were driven exclusively male. Today, things have changed and there are plenty of self-help for specific problems of women as well. Women are still facing problems on sexual self-esteem, and even “perfect body image”, but now may face these problems to the weather and learn to grow and change as men are doing. As human beings we all have to deal with the problems and none of us is perfect. It is a big step that we can now recognize this and learn to grow together spiritually, regardless of our genders.
Some the problems of women who are constantly challenged by the media and the objectification of advertising products and concern today marginalization. These are issues that concern women individually and often require a person who has “past” that can help. A great program that has pioneered the movement against the marginalization of women is Oprah Winfrey. Establishment apart from many other self help guru, Oprah avoids much of the negative language directed against men and instead focuses on solutions that women can use to overcome in society. The Oprah Winfrey Show also raises awareness of many other issues outside of just self-help women and thereby made accessible to an even wider audience. This places the struggle for women’s self esteem and empowerment in a broader context of the world’s problems rather than cutting their connection to all problems facing humanity. Greater self-esteem for women means greater self-esteem for all the world and the Oprah Winfrey Show has been a great benefit to humanity because of this fact.
Self help books for women are widespread, but some of the early works are especially notable for those seeking a basic understanding of the issues. Interestingly, Anna Freud, daughter of Dr. Sigmund Freud actually contributed to the work of psychoanalysis in a very deep when he wrote his famous work The Ego and the Mechanisms of Defense. This is one of the classics of psychoanalysis, which really brought many of the ideas of his father, a concise and clear manner which makes them easier to identify everyone. Another great book that is part of the classic works on women’s issues comes from Nancy Friday and my mother has the right to myself. In this case, Nancy Friday investigates the central issues that involve women in her relationship with her mother and discover the most common reasons for self-esteem issues in women. She leads the reader to a deeper understanding of herself so you can more easily identify their problems and find a way forward in your life. Despite a third book has been largely left behind in terms of women’s movement, the book by Carol Gilligan, In a Different Voice decades of pioneering work was done in terms of women’s movement and still offers in many courses at the University of today.
Wherever choose to begin, there is a source of information on self-help women today. Women have taken the lead in terms of personal growth in many areas and have caused the men to stand up and take notice, because the road to a better future for all us.
